Meet the One Woman (and Many Modalities) Behind Sweet Leaves

Kaylee Sweet is the founder and creative force behind Sweet Leaves. Raised in Appalachia, her college studies in sociology led her to work with refugees, most of them farmers. Through understanding their struggles with war, famine, and food security in the face of climate chaos, she pivoted focuses in 2013, from political science to permaculture.

On a voyage through Central and South America the next year, she explored not only the lands themselves, but their cultures’ ceremonial use of herbs and food as medicine. Along the way, she received intuitive guidance from farmers, folk herbalists, shamans, and mountain witch mentors, each of whom evolved her approach to healing.

Since then, Kaylee has accumulated a decade’s worth of coursework and experience to further inform her herbalism practice. For example, she completed the Chestnut School of Herbal Medicine’s Herbal Immersion and The Herbal Academy’s Becoming an Herbalist class series. She also holds certifications in Naturopathy and yoga instruction, and applies her skills as a meditation leader, women’s circle facilitator, and shadow worker. Her work weaves together lessons from all these modalities and experiences to support others in finding their own holistic balance.

Today, Kaylee lives in a permaculture community outside of Eugene, Oregon, where she enjoys ample time outside in nature with her beloved dog, Melai. Every product she creates reflects her devotion to fostering whole-world wellness and transformative healing through authentic living and plant connection.
